Our first Iron Chef KFA competition for 2006 challenged participants with a Pumpkin theme and all recipes had to be safe for milk allergy and egg allergy. We are pleased to announce the winning recipe, Creamy Pumpkin Curry soup, created by member Joanne M!
We had ten parents sign up to create recipes for the initial October competition using the theme ingredient of Pumpkin. Egg and dairy were the "secret without" ingredients. All recipes are now in our searchable Safe Eats™ recipe database for all Family Membership subscribers to enjoy.

Kids With Food Allergies Iron Chef Competition
The Food Network asks America, "How Do YOU Iron Chef?" We'd like to show them how Parents Of Food Allergic Kids (POFAKs) do it!
This is the first of a series of competitions modeled after the popular Iron Chef and Iron Chef America television programs on Food Network, but we've added a food allergy twist. Instead of having a secret ingredient as the theme, there will be a "battle theme" and "secret without" restrictions.
Join in on the fun and be a judge for these food allergy cooking contests! Any KFA Family Member who is not a challenger in a current battle can be a judge. Judges select one or more of the contest recipes to try out at home, then rate each recipe. For more details, visit the forums.

On May 9th, Kids With Food Allergies was a co-sponsor of the new Kid Protein Intolerance and Allergy Initiative held in Baltimore. The American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (APFED) and Nutricia North America were the other co-sponsors.
The mission of this new initiative is to improve the health, well being and quality of life for infants and children with food allergy, protein intolerance and allergic gastrointestinal disease through advocating prompt identification, diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
The first meeting provided an opportunity for participants to attend food allergy education sessions and to share their experiences about their advocacy efforts and educational outreach in their home communities in breakout sessions. One of the purposes of this initiative is to reach out to support group leaders nationwide and other organizations to see if we can combine our efforts to make our work more effective in these areas.
