KFA representatives met allergists from around the country to provide information about the online support group services KFA provides to families who are raising food allergic children -- our recipe database, our food and cooking support forums, and our family forums for emotional and social support. October, 2007 The recipes were made and tasted. Votes were cast and tallied. October, 2007 A KFA representative attended the Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore in late September, where businesses showcased their flagship products and introduced new items to merchandisers and others in the retail business. There were many companies there with whom we are familiar, including companies that already sponsor or advertise with KFA such as Ian's Natural Foods, Enjoy Life Foods, and Sunbutter. These and other companies were showcasing new allergy-friendly products that will be potentially useful for families raising children with food allergies. September 26, 2007 KFA welcomed our 10,000th member this month. Kids With Food Allergies has grown and accomplished much in the past two years; here's an update:
August 23, 2007 Planning for growth Kids With Food Allergies continues to grow and thrive! Our board of directors met this past month to plan out our objectives for the next year in terms of how we are organized and staffed and in terms of what kinds of programs to offer our members. Organizationally we're still very much laying an infrastructure to allow us to grow to meet the needs of the thousands who come to our Web site each month. Our primary objective is to build an operations team this year while we continue to expand educational and support offerings to our members and visitors. We'll tell you more about plans later this year as we firm them up. We are still looking to fill some key volunteer positions as we grow to become a fully functioning organization, including volunteers willing to help us with fundraising. We will have more information about that later this year as well. In the mean time, know that we are working hard to keep things running as smoothly as possible while our volunteer staff are helping out with KFA when they can steal away time from raising children, caring for the house, being employed, spending hours shopping and preparing allergy-safe meals - you get the idea! We are so thankful for everyone's contributions large and small. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization and we value them tremendously.
We are pleased to announce that Victoria, age 12, daughter of KFA member Alergeez, is the winner of this year's KFA holiday card artwork competition! After seeing Victoria's artwork and contacting her mom, we have come to learn that Victoria is a very talented young artist. Victoria received a KFA ''Please don't feed me, I have food allergies'' monkey and a winner's certificate as an acknowledgment of her achievement! Congratulations, Victoria! Victoria's artwork will be made into holiday cards we will sell on our Web site this fall. Runners up received a certificate of participation and a KFA keychain.
